Meet Scardavino, a writer from Durango, in northern Mexico — a valley surrounded by mountains. It's the kind of landscape that turns you into either a mystic or a cynic.

Scardavino has been writing for five years across fiction, poetry, essay, and theater, in both Spanish and English.

"I finished my first novel in 2017, then stopped writing, and a year and a half ago my wife forced me to start submitting to publications. Turns out she was right, as she is about almost everything else."

A well-established writer, his works has been published in over 170 international journals and anthologies across the Americas, Europe, and beyond.

The author who has influenced Scardavino is Douglas Adams. "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy convinced me that the universe is a cosmic joke and that the best answer to everything is 42. After that, there was no turning back."

Scardavino's Droids & Dragon short story is, 'The Last Dragon of Sector 7'. "The idea came from a simple question: what happens when two relics from worlds that no longer exist — a combat android with philosophical tendencies and the last living dragon — meet in an abandoned hangar and discover that shared obsolescence feels a lot like companionship? I wanted to write about what it means to keep existing when no one needs you anymore. And about programming errors, which in the end are always more interesting than software working correctly."

'The Last Dragon of Sector 7' is a story that you can't stop reading. Great voice and pacing. An excerpt from 'The Last Dragon of Sector 7':

"We are both ghosts. Relics of worlds that no longer exist, running on inertia because no one has given us permission to stop."

Scardavino's favorite book is Les Chants de Maldoror by Lautréamont.

Scardavino's writing superpower is one every writer strives for.

"I write in multifunction mode: while I type, I can see the scene as if it were a movie, hold three conversations at the same time, and build the narrative structure in the background without dropping a single plate. It's like being the director, the screenwriter, and the waiter at a packed restaurant, all at once. Tips are optional but appreciated."
