Droids & Dragons Author, Ronja Vieth

Pub 518 welcomes Ronja Vieth to the Droids & Dragons team. Ronja is nomadic and travels the world writing.
"I started writing as a child already and pursuing a degree in American Literature has fed my love and my art."
Ronja has a PhD, specializes in American Gothic Literature and some of her poetry reflects that.
She is a well-published author. Her writing has appeared in national and international journals and calendars, such as the Cincinnati Review, Otherwise Engaged, Southern Poetry Anthology: Texas, Brooklyn Review, Collective Humanity: An LGBTQ+ Anthology 'metamorphosis,' Book of Matches, ROAR Magazine, The Southwestern Review, Whispers of the Seasons – A Contemporary Haiku Anthology, and others. This year, she won first place in the USA Poetry Magazine contest.
Ronja works as writer and life-coach. Her non-fiction guidebook, Pet Sit Like A Pro, is available on Amazon.
Asking a literature PhD which one book has influenced her the most is an impossible question, really... "I take inspiration from poets like William Carlos Williams as much as from Sylvia Plath."
We asked Ronja where she got her inspiration for her poem, and she said, "My poem is titled "Extinction" and deals with my girlfriend's sudden seclusion shortly followed by her third and final break up with me."
Here is Ronja's favorite snippet from her poem, Extinction.
"after silence over sushi
because there was nothing
to say"
Ronja couldn't pinned down her favorite book or author. "LOL, again, really hard to say for me. However, I do love the poetic style of the Gothic in Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy and Beloved by Toni Morrison."
Writing superpowers keep the words coming, and with Ronja, it's brevity and being very succinct. "That is the reason I keep reverting to poetry - I love that it can be very pithy."
Extinction is a must-read poem, and you can find it in the 2026 anthology, Droids & Dragons. It's now available on Amazon and other platforms.
