Lewis Brett Smiler

Pub 518 would like to welcome Lewis Brett Smiler to the Droids & Dragons team.

Lewis has been writing stories since he was about nine years old. He is a lifelong New Jersey resident but has strong family ties with the New York's Capital Region. "Before 518 existed as an area code, my father was born and raised in Gloversville, New York. Gloversville was once the glove-making capital of the world, and my grandparents worked in the factories there." 

Lewis has various short stories published, including two dark fantasies that were aired on the Creepy podcast. His other publications were often YA coming-of-age tales, and many of them can be found in Academy of the Heart and Mind (https://academyoftheheartandmind.com/?s=lewis+brett+smiler). 

"I am excited that 'Dragon Max' will be my first comedic story to be published.

'Dragon Max' is about an attention-seeking dragon who plunders coffee beans, causing a huge crisis in the kingdom. I am a tea drinker and never acquired a taste for coffee, but I've seen how important coffee is for many of my fellow writers."

An excerpt from 'Dragon Max' tells us everything we need to know about the attention-seeking dragon.

"Max began to feel as if plundering gold was a waste of time and energy, creating unnecessary clutter in his cavern. Coffee beans were the real treasure, and if he could hoard them, he would become a legend among dragons."

If anyone asks Lewis about writing, his response would be, "It's amazing when a writer creates a character and they become real. With the character, Max the Dragon, he recently sent a Father's Day card to me, his creator. Max was the 1st character to send a card.
